Deenya is a community built on respect, Islamic values, and the shared goal of finding a spouse. To ensure the safety and comfort of all members, we enforce strict Community Guidelines. By joining Deenya, you agree to adhere to these rules.
1. Islamic Etiquette (Adab)
All interactions—whether in the WhatsApp group, via direct message, or at our events—must reflect Islamic etiquette.
- Respectful Communication: Always use respectful, polite language. Swearing, vulgarity, or aggressive tone is strictly prohibited.
- Halal Interaction: Conversations should be purposeful and marriage-focused. Avoid excessive casual chatting or inappropriate topics.
- Lowering the Gaze: Maintain modesty in your interactions and dress code at all Deenya events.
2. Direct Messaging (DMs)
When you see a profile you are interested in, you may reach out via direct message on WhatsApp. However, you must follow these rules:
- State Your Intentions: Your first message should clearly state who you are, reference their profile, and express your interest in getting to know them for marriage.
- No Spamming: Do not message multiple members simultaneously with copy-pasted messages. Read their profile and ensure you are genuinely compatible first.
- Respect "No": If a member declines your interest, do not reply, do not argue, and do not message them again. A simple "no thank you" must be respected immediately.
3. Wali Involvement
We strongly encourage the involvement of a Wali (guardian) early in the process. If a sister requests that you speak to her Wali instead of her directly, you must honour this request without hesitation or complaint.
4. Zero Tolerance Policy
Deenya has a zero-tolerance policy for the following behaviours, which will result in an immediate, permanent ban from the community:
- Harassment or Stalking: Repeatedly messaging someone who has not replied or has declined interest.
- Inappropriate Content: Sending explicit messages, images, or requesting inappropriate photos.
- Scamming or Fraud: Asking members for money, financial assistance, or promoting businesses/services.
- Misrepresentation: Lying about your age, marital status, profession, or using fake/old photographs.
5. Event Conduct
When attending Deenya events (dinners, hikes, mixers):
- Punctuality: Arrive on time to respect the organisers and other attendees.
- Engagement: Participate respectfully in activities and discussions.
- Photography: Do not take photos or videos of other members without their explicit permission.
6. Reporting Issues
If any member violates these guidelines or makes you feel uncomfortable, please report them immediately to a Deenya Admin via direct message. All reports are handled with strict confidentiality, and we will take swift action to protect the community.
By joining Deenya, you commit to upholding these standards and contributing to a safe, respectful environment for everyone.
